June - July 2025 Collection

Here is a selection of poems written throughout June and July. It is a mix of haiku and slightly longer poems, capturing the essence of summer. I hope you will enjoy reading.

Clear deserted beach
She is a vision in blue
Soul pacifier.

Small yellow buttercup
Nestled between
Long blades of grass
You bring back memories
Of childhood days
And my mother smilingly
Instructing me
To hold you under my chin
She said if your petals
Cast a golden glow
Upon my skin
She could tell if I liked
The taste of butter.

Lonely jutting jetty
Enhanced by evening sun
Stark static structure
Silently waiting
For ships to come home
You are the only constant
In this ever changing scene
Impervious to
Shape shifting mudflats
Meandering new pathways
Leading to the sea.

Blue geraniums
Petals like a fairy’s wings
Shade and sun catchers.

Welcome to a world
Where it’s hard
To differentiate
Between reality
And the realms
Of fantasy
Emerald
Enchanted forest.

Ghost ship
In the distance
A whisper in the mist
I walk parallel
On the riverbank
Strain to keep you
In my line of sight
Quicken my pace
To stay aligned
Wishing you would
Change course
Drift back into my life
Intermittent
Becomes invisible
As you sail
Beyond the clouds.

Foxglove by the stream
Cast your seeds into the breeze
Multiply next year.

Walking through long grass
Having a daisy moment
At one with nature.

Peeking temptingly
From a cascade of etched leaves
Shiny red cherries.

Bursts of lavender
Evocative purple scent
Lingers in the air.

In tangled forests
Rooks weave complex tapestries
Mirroring lost souls.

Oh taffeta clouds
I want to bury my head
In your soft ruffles
Leave my troubles
Behind.

Ripening slowly
Clusters of plump blackberries
Bask in July sun.

Non-judgemental trees
Providing shade for all
Irrespective of their beliefs
They do not differentiate
Between contrarians
Libertarians or thieves
They simply stare
At their own reflections
Share a piece of their soul
With each falling leaf.

Dandelion clocks
Drift like fickle promises
Feathers in the breeze.

A sprinkling of seeds
Can transform a barren field
Wildflower magic.

Thousands of green leaves
Blend together into one
Heaven Seurat style.

Inhaling deeply
Senses realigned
Basking in
The tranquility
Of light blue
Sapphire sea.

Majestic beech tree
I see animal faces
Sculpted in your bark.
